Death Toll in Komyshuvakha Strike Rises to 55, Le Monde Reports

Alice Larsson·November 7, 2026·2 min read

Le Monde.fr reports that 55 people have now been confirmed dead following Monday's Russian bombardment of Komyshuvakha, an updated figure on the earlier count. The French outlet published the revised toll on Saturday.

The strike is among the deadliest single incidents reported in the war in recent months, according to Le Monde.fr. The report did not give further details on how the figure was compiled or on the condition of the wounded.

The updated toll came as other French outlets reported a night of heavy Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy system. Orange Actualités described the overnight strikes on energy infrastructure as "massive," and La Croix likewise reported large-scale Russian strikes targeting power facilities. Euronews.com reported that Kyiv was hit, with five people wounded and a bridge and energy infrastructure damaged. Ouest-France also reported missiles striking the Ukrainian capital.

The accounts point to a renewed focus on Ukraine's power network as winter approaches, with several outlets reporting damage to generating and distribution sites in and around the capital. The reports did not specify how many missiles or drones were used, nor the full extent of the damage across the country.

Casualty figures from strike sites in Ukraine have repeatedly been revised upward as rescue work continues and bodies are recovered, though Le Monde.fr did not say whether that was the case in Komyshuvakha.

Watch for further updates to the Komyshuvakha toll and for official assessments of damage to Ukraine's energy grid.
